Joe Sharp

Joe Sharp has been in racing his whole life. Growing up, both his mother and father worked on the racetrack training and riding horses. Joe took out his jockey license at age 19 and rode for 1 1/2 years before turning his focus to training. He worked as an assistant trainer for multiple trainers, most notably Mike Maker, before going out on his own in 2014 Joe has had phenomenal success since he started training on his own in 2014. One of Joe’s most successful years so far was in 2017 when he started Girvin in the Kentucky Derby after winning the $1 Million Louisiana Derby, and also winning the GI Haskell Invitational later that year. Joe has always been a big supporter of TB aftercare and has ridden in multiple charity events to promote the cause, even riding on the winning team at the Real Rider Cup in 2017!
