“My name is Laura Moquett. I am 42 years old and an assistant trainer for my husband Ron Moquett at Churchill Downs/Keeneland in Kentucky for the summer months and at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the winter. I’ve always enjoyed having an OTTB to play with during downtime, and have had a great partner the last couple of years with a Thoroughbred named Ultraslan. He had a very short racing career with Murat Sancal with only three outs and earnings of $660. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him gallop by at Churchill. I let his barn know that I was interested in him when he was retired and was ecstatic when they called me to come pick him up early in his 3-year-old year. I feel very strongly about Thoroughbreds in second careers and am so happy that we have an opportunity to ride for a cause in the Real Rider Cup challenge!
