Lindy Gutman

Lindy Gutman lives in Westminster, MD with her husband, Adam, two hounds and a mini pig. They have two Off the Track Thoroughbreds, Fullback and Talk Show Man. She describes herself an “amateur’s amateur” and has ridden, in some capacity, most of her 51 years. She balances a full time job in sales with foxhunting and showing hunters at the terrifying, towering height of 2’3”-2’6”. Talk Show Man is her first restart project.

Lindy has no equestrian claims to fame and says she’s “just like you” and that if she can ride Off the Track Thoroughbreds, so can you. She’s been blogging for JumperNation about her journey and manages Talk Show Man’s “Road to the Makeover” Facebook page. You can follow them at https://www.facebook.com/talkshowman.

Lindy acquired Talk Show Man from his race breeder and owner to train him and take him to the now-postponed 2020 Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover. Since starting him back under saddle in January, he’s been a perfect example of the versatility of OTTBs. He’s learned to jump, walk out with hounds, play soccer, trail ride, work cattle, complete an obstacle course, has been Thoroughbred Champion at his first hunter show and has completed 100+ hours in the Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) Recreational Riding Program.

On the racetrack, Maryland-bred Talk Show Man ran until he was 9. He ended his career in June, 2019, with a record of 40-8-2-7 and earnings of $456,556. He won multiple stakes including the 2014 and 2018 editions of the Maryland Million Turf and the 2015 Henry S Clark Stakes.
