“I am a lifelong horsewoman, fascinated with horses since I first knew what they were at about age 5. I have ridden and cared for horses all my life, and as a teenager OTTB’s were all that we rode. Over the years we have had great success with OTTB’s in the showring and even with the popularity of warmbloods as sport horses today, I still believe that a good Thoroughbred is a treasure.
As a rider and trainer, I have developed many Thoroughbreds after their race days are complete and am passionate about helping them land in the right hands to start their next phase. I am one of the founding members of the Fair Hill Thoroughbred Show, which is one of the beneficiaries of the Real Rider Cup. The Fair Hill Thoroughbred Show is meant to be a showcase for what Thoroughbreds can do after racing, as well as educate people in the their training/development after racing and to help fund programs for OTTB rescue and retraining.
I am grateful to have a choice of two mounts for RRC: Ballerino, owned by Jean M. Bickley, who has also generously contributed to the RRC, and Blame It On Texas, owned by FHTS Committee Chair Lisa Demars and generously sponsored in the RRC by the Boudinot Foundation.
Finally, I am very grateful to be participating at all, as in true 2020 fashion my main challenge this year has been fighting Advanced Ovarian Cancer. Ladies, learn the symptoms and stay current with your doctor appointments. Ocrahope.org and foundationforwomenscancer.org are good sources for information.”
