Jess is a local, where she grew up riding bareback around the hills of Georgetown Ky. She and her sister Erin participated in 4-H, then she became a working student at age 14 for a local eventer. After her first horse trial, she was hooked and progressed to another working student position for top eventer Dorothy Crowell. She and her previous OTTB Tucker competed up to advanced level, with many wins and top placings. After learning a different side of the horse industry as a vet tech for 5 years on nights at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, she decided to pursue her goal of going to Florida for the winter to compete Tucker as he was growing older. She began galloping racehorses to enable her to travel, and has wanted to do nothing else ever since. She's been galloping for Winstar farm since spring 2013, and last year began galloping at Margaux Farm. Her current competition horse, Player, aka The Luckdragon have competed at the upper levels of eventing but had setbacks in the past 2 years with a tendon issue for Player and a broken leg for Jess. Back in the saddle, they are currently running around intermediate level this year.
