Forest Boyce

Forest Boyce has been a Maryland based jockey since 2009, licensed in the U.S. and other international jurisdictions, with career earnings well over $25 million from over 6,000 starts and over 770 wins. Accomplishments include an Eclipse award nomination, leading rider titles, multiple graded stakes winnings, and top 100 rankings for six of the past nine years.

A good deal of Forest’s childhood was spent fox hunting, showing and eventing, locally and nationally, Pony Clubbing and even playing polo for a nationally ranked interscholastic team. At a young age Forest set out to ride for the late, great D.M. “Mikey” Smithwick.  She also held gallop jobs with Catherine “Holly” Robinson, Alexandra White and Richard “Dickie” Small.

Shortly after Forest earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute of Design, she began her professional jockey career. In her first full year she earned leading rider titles for the summer and fall in Maryland and an Apprentice Jockey of the Year Eclipse award nomination.

Upon the passing of her grandmother Louise “Pete” Clarke, Forest has helped manage her grandmother’s antique store, Pete’s Pickens, in Bradshaw, Maryland. Forest continues to fox hunt with the Elkridge Harford and volunteers with several youth riding organizations.
