Ellie Turnbull is the 15-year-old daughter of Geoff and Bertha Turnbull, and the great-granddaughter of Hall of Fame trainer MG Walsh. Ellie’s parents were involved in racing for many years, owning and training steeplechase horses. Her Dad continues to make his living in the Thoroughbred industry as an equine dentist.
Ellie has been riding ponies since she was 5 years old. Since then, she’s tried many disciplines, but has found her niche in the hunter ring. Ellie enjoys working with OTTBs and has had success turning out some nicely made show hunters.
Most recently, Ellie has had the pleasure of riding and showing Tell The Truth. “Fluffy” is a 5 year old Thoroughbred previously trained by Graham Motion and currently owned by his niece Mary Motion.
Ellie will be sponsored by James “Chuck” Lawrence III . She will be riding Dawn of Time (previously trained by Chuck), and will be wearing the Lawrence Racing Stable’s green and white silks.
