Harry Rice IV grew up in Staten Island, NY and has been around horses from the time he was born. His father, Harry Rice III, is a longtime valet on the NYRA circuit. When Harry was about 12 he began working on the backstretch of Saratoga with the late Tom Voss. After the passing of Mr. Voss, Harry began working with Shug McGaughey and the legendary Phipps Stable, whose famous black and cherry silks he will wear. After finishing Penn State this past December with a degree in telecommunications, Harry has been the foreman for Tom Morley.
However, Harry’s degree has not gone to waste. After working for Tom Morley in the morning, Harry shifts his focus in the afternoon to working as a production assistant on the NYRA shows that are broadcast FS2 every race day. In addition to the NYRA shows, Harry has been working with NBC for the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup. During those shows Harry has been Donna Brothers’ talent assistant.
