I'm excited to announce that Phlash Phelps and I are competing in the Real Rider Cup Fair Hill this September! Phlash and I have a unique relationship: I galloped him from his 2-year-old year until his retirement at Laurel Park. During that time he won 7 of 24 starts including The Find Stake and Maryland Million Turf two times. He was named Maryland Bred Turf Horse of 2016. I was then given the incredible opportunity to introduce him to his next career after racing by owner Ellen Charles of Hillwood Stables and trainer Rodney Jenkins. We competed at the 2021 RRP Mega-Makeover in show jumping and dressage. I have been involved in Maryland racing for the past 22 years, as an exercise rider, starting young horses, assistant trainer, amateur jockey, ponying horses at the races, an owner and now a breeder! I own and operate a farm where I have retrained OTTBs for new careers including dressage, jumpers, fox hunting, and even upper level eventing, as well as starting young ones under saddle I believe Thoroughbreds are wonderful sport horses and am proud to be a part of this event, promoting and educating everyone through aftercare efforts such as Beyond the Wire and The Retired Racehorse Project.
