Scott Hammond was born in Somerset, England where he began riding at the age of 16 and began working in racing just after. Both of his parents worked in the Thoroughbred industry. Hammond attended West Oxfordshire Technical College and received a degree in the Management of Thoroughbred Horses. He has worked in the Maryland racing industry for over 25 years and is a former trainer and exercise rider. Residing on a farm in Harford County, he is married to Beyond the Wire's Program Administrator, Jessica Hammond. Their son Luke Hammond works for Coolmore America in Kentucky.
